Oval Nerf Bars
Oval nerf bars, sometimes called oval tube steps give your truck a fantastic new look and provide excellent utility!
The oval nerf bars are newer to the nerf bar market and some people like them better than the traditional round nerf bars. This is because the oval shape provides a wider 'step' on than their counterparts.
They are usually available in a 4 inch or 5 inch width. Ionic even offers a 6 inch wide oval bar! (Oval nerf bars are measured by the width, not by the height). Even though they are oval-shaped, they still have the same strength as the traditional round nerf bars, so you don't sacrifice strength for better utility. They are typically made of steel, stainless steel or even ABS plastic.
There are several different finishes of the metal oval nerf bars available, including, but not limited to:
- Powder-coated
- Chrome plated
- Polished stainless steel
The ABS plastic nerf bars typically have either black satin or chrome plated finish.
Some things to consider when deciding on which nerf bars you want are the 'look', the width of the step pad area and the finish.
The wider the step pad, the better the convenience of using the steps, of course. If 'slipping' isn't going to be an issue, you might want to opt for a smaller step.
Some oval step bars are straight, some have 90 degree bends, some have 45 degree bends. Call us if you have a preference and we will be able to help you get the look you are looking for.
Lastly, but possibly most important, is the finish. Because your nerf bars are going to take a beating from the elements and rocks and gravel, you want to get the best finish that you can afford.
