Stainless Nerf Bars
If looks AND strength are what you are looking for, then grab of pair of stainless nerf bars!
Stainless nerf bars come in both the classic round style and also the newer 'oval' designs.
The finish is usually a polished (mirror like) finish, but some manufacturers offer their stainless nerf bars in a black satin or black gloss finish.
There are two main reasons why you should consider stainless nerf bars for your new truck:
The stainless steel bars won't rust over time like mild steel does. This is very important if your nerf bars are going to take a lot of abuse from the road and elements, such as: salt spray, rocks, gravel, etc. Over time these abrasive elements can chip away at any finish and expose the base metal to corrosion. While it might take a few years with mild steel nerf bars, it is bound to happen sooner or later. Nasta and Steelcraft offer stainless brackets and bolts as an upgrade along with lifetime warranty if you're around these abrasive elements. This will ensure that your brackets do not rust as well.
You want to make sure that you purchase the highest 'grade' of stainless possible. A '200 series stainless steel' is barely even stainless steel. It will pit much easier than the higher quality series. What you want to look for is '304 series stainless steel alloy'. The 304 series is a very high grade of stainless and will resist corrosion for years and years and years. The 304 series will also hold its mirror-like finish for a long long time. Note that 'chrome plated' nerf bars are not necessarily stainless steel. Some manufacturers offer 'chrome plated mild steel' nerf bars that look like 'stainless steel', but they aren't. Sooner or later corrosion will eat through the chrome plating and then you get the bad part: RUST!
